Why is garden design important?

Gardens come in many different shapes and sizes and deciding how to make best use of your outside space can be a real dilemma.

Whatever the particular needs of your household, a good design is vital to unlock the full potential of your garden and getting the key elements of your garden ‘right first time’ can save you money in the long run.

Even if the basic hard landscaping features, such as patios and pathways are already in place, knowing which trees and shrubs to plant and where they will thrive is crucial for both gardening success and the creation of your desired style.

A well-designed garden is an excellent investment that will bring you years of pleasure whilst also adding to the value of your property.

Alison Moore came to garden design through a lifelong love of plants and gardens which began with her parent’s cottage garden in Shropshire.

In 2012 she left her career in the Insurance Industry and co-founded renaissance garden design with the aim of building on her knowledge and experience to provide affordable and practical garden design solutions.

Alison has an RHS level 2 Certificate in Horticulture with a commendation in the principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development. Her projects range from simple design consultations to full landscaping projects and she is committed to creating environmentally friendly gardens.

As an enthusiastic garden photographer, Alison also visits many beautiful gardens in Cheshire, Shropshire and beyond.    Looking at a garden through the eye of a camera lens, gives her a unique   perspective on the importance of colour, light and texture in a planting scheme and many of her images can be seen on her social media links alongside details of her current projects.
